The last major holiday until Penn State football returns is upon us! Happy Fourth of July everyone! Today marks just 58 days until your beloved Nittany Lions return to Beaver Stadium against the Idaho Vandals.
With 58 days remaining, we spotlight redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Evan Presta! Presta, a native of Erie, Pennsylvania was a two-sport standout athlete for the powerhouse Erie Cathedral Prep. For the Ramblers, Presta lettered in both football (2x) and lacrosse (4x) during his high school career.
After a productive high school career, Presta walked on at Penn State as a member of the 2017 recruiting class. As a true freshman, Presta did not appear in a game and was a member of the scout team but last season, he appeared in his first game as a Nittany Lion, making his collegiate debut against Kent State. He remained a valuable part of the scout team as well and was even recognized for his efforts when he was one of Penn State’s scout team defensive players of the week when the team was preparing for Iowa.
Presta in 2019 will remain in the same role as he enters his third-year with the program. He should get at least one chance if not more to see the field this season especially if the Lions first and second string take care of business on August 31st against Idaho.
Now, everyone go have some delicious food, drink some nice cold beverages, and light some fireworks (SAFELY). Happy Fourth of July everybody!
