Shaka Toney has seen plenty of playing time during the past two years, and is now poised to become a full-time starter as a redshirt junior. Expect to see Toney get to the quarterback often, as one of the top pass rushers on what will be a fast and fearsome group of defensive linemen.
Toney’s shining moment as a Nittany Lion thus far came last season against Indiana. As the Hoosiers attempted to mount a late comeback, Toney took complete control of the game with four sacks in the fourth quarter. The effort tied a program record for most sacks in a single game, as Toney joined Nittany Lion legends Tamba Hali, Jimmy Kennedy and Terry Killens.
Toney is a Philly product who helped bring Imhotep Institute its first state championship by contributing a school record 21 sacks as a senior captain in 2015.
Only 18 more days until Toney is terrorizing the Idaho backfield!
