The season is getting so close that if you close your eyes and focus you can hear the faint sounds of the Blue Band in the distance, see the blue and white-clad faithful in all directions, smell all the goodies on the tailgate grills, and depending on the direction of the wind, the lovely smells of the cows in the pasture.
For now, let’s focus on one of the players who have people very excited for the Nittany Lions defense in 2019. Garrett Taylor broke out in his first year as a starter, helping lead the secondary while proving to be the next safety in the program’s NFL pipeline at the position. Taylor tied for the team lead in interceptions with three, while finishing third on the team in tackles behind only linebackers Micah Parsons and Jan Johnson. He also contributed a forced fumble and fumble recovery, and was second in passes defensed. As a proven fifth-year senior, Taylor will be among the best at his position in the Big Ten this fall.
Just 17 more days until Taylor is picking off passes and walloping any ballcarrier who comes his direction!
