The transfer portal has sucked in another Nittany Lion. In a move that was strangely timed, according to Sean Fitz of Lions 247 redshirt senior safety John Petrishen has entered the transfer portal.
Last season Petrishen played in all 13 games, with the majority of his playing time coming on special teams. Petrishen recorded 5 tackles as a redshirt junior last fall.
This fall Petrishen figured to be a key member of Joe Lorig’s special teams units. Instead, he will be taking his talents elsewhere. Petrishen deciding to explore the transfer portal is not a total surprise. He is a fifth year senior that is buried on the depth chart at safety. What is a surprise, however, is that he waited until this close to the start of the season to decide to explore the transfer portal.
The Lower Burrell native is a graduate of Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School. He came to Penn State as a three-star safety in their 2015 recruiting class. We wish John nothing but the best at his next destination!
