Midweek Musings - I Can’t Wait for the Season to Get Here

As I sat down at my computer to put together this week’s Midweek Musings, and tried to come up with a new topic to discuss which has not already been talked about, it dawned on me - this off season has seemingly dragged on forever.

No real need to rehash everything, but since the Citrus Bowl, it’s just felt like something of a slog. The great portal fiasco, recruiting hits and misses, small updates on workouts, way too early polls, betting lines on win totals - it’s early August and I am just ready for the season to get here.

No more speculation on whether the offense will actually be good. No more wondering whether Penn State is going to take a step back this year or keep on rolling. Just honest-to-goodness football. Two teams take the field, and one emerges victorious some hours later. Lather, rinse, and repeat, across all of college football from late August to early January.

Ironically, for a writer, the off season is our down time. Sure, we still have articles that go out, but not nearly at the frenetic pace during the season. And yet, here we sit, a few weeks to go before kickoff, and I am just off seasoned out.

Bring on the football already, will ya?
