As always, some thoughts:

  • Is it safe to say that those with three games played are going to see their redshirt pulled? I only ask because Caedan Wallace is the name that I am still a little puzzled by. Yes, he’s for sure talented, but burning a redshirt on an offensive lineman who isn’t actually in the offensive line rotation seems a little off. Maybe they have hopes that he’ll be pushing for an offensive guard spot come mid-October, but I don’t know — just seems a little odd.
  • Lance Dixon seems to be on the Jesse Luketa path of “this freshman is too good to redshirt but also not good enough to crack the linebacker rotation so let’s just make him a core special teamer.” Which, hey, works for me.
  • Adisa Isaac was the lone freshman who had seen time in the first two games to not get playing time against Pitt. That mostly comes back to the great depth at defensive end, though — Yetur Gross-Matos, Shaka Toney, Shane Simmons, Jayson Oweh, and Daniel Joseph. Tough to get snaps with that many experienced (and talented) players in front of you.
  • I’m curious to see if any players in the “0 Games Played” column will see some action this year. For those in the comment section, which player from that list is most likely to get into a game? I think John Dunmore is the leader in the clubhouse.
