Nittany Lions move up slightly in both polls

The Nittany Lions might have had a bye week, but that didn’t stop their rise in the polls.

Although Penn State did not take the field Saturday, that didn’t stop a slight jump to No. 12 in the Associate Press rankings this week.

Five other Big Ten teams are in the rankings this week, led by Ohio State and Wisconsin at No. 5 and 8, respectively. Other conference teams in the poll include No. 14 Iowa, No. 20 Michigan, and No. 25 Michigan State, who re-enters the poll after a one-week absence. Minnesota garnered five votes but is unranked.

Penn State moved up one spot to No. 11 in the Coaches Poll. Ohio State (No. 6), Wisconsin (No. 9), Iowa (No. 14), and Michigan (No. 20) are the other conference teams in the coaches’ poll. The Badgers climbed five spots and the Wolverines plummeted 10 spots after Wisconsin’s blowout win in Madison.

Penn State takes on Maryland Friday, September 27.
