Before we begin, a reminder, coaches who do not update MaxPreps and newspapers that are behind paywalls are the worst.

Future Penn State linebacker Tyler Elsdon was all over the field for North Schulykill in a 56-6 victory over Shamokin Area on Friday night. Elsdon caught a 37 yard touchdown pass for the Spartans, and he converted a two-point conversion with a run. He also led a swarming defensive attack that held Shamokin Area to just 6 points which included -31 yards rushing.

Quarterback Micah Bowens had a better performance than he did in week 1 for Las Vegas powerhouse Bishop Gorman. Bowens was 12/21 for 162 yards and a pair of scores through the air. He also rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown. However, Bowens and Bishop Gorman were defeated by St. Louis (HI) 31-19.

Defensive end Amin Vanover had 6 tackles including a pair for a loss for St. Joseph Regional (NJ) in their 24-13 season opening victory. Defensive tackle Cole Brevard recorded a tackle while helping to lead Carmel (IN) to a 37-0 shutout victory.

While running back Keyvone Lee and the Ameircan Collegiate Academy Pioneers of Clearwater, Florida dropped their season opener 55-13 Lee still made his presence felt with big runs such as the one below.

Lee finished the game with 56 yards rushing. He was also called to quarterback duties after the Pioneers starting QB exited with injury.

DeMatha Catholic and offensive lineman Golden Israel-Achumba and defensive lineman Coziah Izzard defeated Philadelphia’s Imhotep Charter 34-6. GIA spent the game doing what he does best - putting defenders on skates.

Sticking with the offensive line, Devin Willock and New Jersey powerhouse Paramus Catholic rolled Philadelphia West Catholic 49-22. The blocking of Willock helped lead the Paramus offense to 352 yards rushing 512 yards of total offense.

2021 tight end Tyler Elksnis had 4 receptions for 39 yards in an 8-6 victory for the Episcopal School of Jacksonville. Elksnis also recorded a pair of tackles for the Eagles.

Safety Ji’Ayir Brown, wide receiver Norval Black and the Lackawanna Falcons had their season opener, which was set to be played in Myrtle Beach on Sunday, postponed.
