BSD’s recruiting staff sat down for a roundtable on each prospect Penn State signed in the 2020 class. Coming in at No. 25 was three-star defensive end Bryce Mostella.
What makes you excited about Bryce Mostella?
“One word - length. Mostella has a long way to go until he is ready to contribute for Sean Spencer, but at 6-foot-7 he will bring incredible length to the defensive end position. This can make him a handful for opposing offensive tackles. Mostella also has a non-stop motor and never lacks in the effort department.” --Marty
What worries you about Bryce Mostella?
“I talked about this when Mostella committed, but his movement is a little bit awkward. Which I understand probably isn’t the best word to describe it, but that’s kind of the point. He’s long, he has a good frame, he’s actually a pretty darn good football player -- but I’m just not sure he pops on film athletically the way some other guys in the class do. We’ll see if he begins to move better when he’s training within a Division I program. For so many of these long, lanky guys, it’s just a matter of growing into their body.” --Patrick
Do you think Bryce Mostella will be redshirted next season? Around what point of his career do you think he pushes for meaningful playing time?
“Yep. Mostella is a ways away from playing on this level. He’s got great physical gifts, but they need to be refined. If we see him before 2022 I’d be surprised.” --Clay
What is your projection for Bryce Mostella: depth provider, starter, multi-year starter, all-conference, all-american?

Marty: Depth provider
Patrick: Depth provider.
Lastly, where do you have Bryce Mostella ranked in Penn State’s class?
