BSD’s recruiting staff sat down for a roundtable on each prospect Penn State signed in the 2020 class. Coming in at No. 17 was three-star defensive tackle Jimmy Christ.
What makes you excited about Jimmy Christ?
“Similar to current offensive lineman CJ Thorpe, Christ has a nastiness and a mean streak to him. He is not afraid to finish blocks while burying opposing players into the ground. Christ brings a nastiness and an attitude you love to see in offensive linemen. While there are areas Christ needs to improve in, physicality and nastiness are not those areas.” --Marty
What worries you about Jimmy Christ?
“While Christ has tremendous size and length, he’s not the most fluid athlete in the world. His movement is rather rigid, which could just be the case of a kid still growing into his body. Regardless, it’s something to keep track because if his flexibility doesn’t improve, it’s hard to see him as a left tackle.” --Patrick
Do you think Jimmy Christ will be redshirted next season? Around what point of his career do you think he pushes for meaningful playing time?
“Christ will definitely redshirt barring disaster. He’s way down on the depth chart and true freshmen tackles rarely ever start anyway. Look for him to be in the discussion by his redshirt sophomore year.” --Clay
What is your projection for Jimmy Christ: depth provider, starter, multi-year starter, all-conference, or all-american?
Clay: Starter
Marty: Starter
Patrick: Starter
Lastly, where do you have Jimmy Christ ranked in Penn State’s class?
Clay: 17th
Marty: 17th
Patrick: 16th
