Meet the 2020 Class: WR Malick Meiga

BSD’s recruiting staff sat down for a roundtable on each prospect Penn State signed in the 2020 class. Coming in at No. 23 was three-star wide receiver Malik Meiga.

What makes you excited about Malick Meiga?

“Physically, they don’t make them much better than Meiga. At 6-foot-4, 195 pounds, he has elite size for the wide receiver position, and he has the athletic numbers to match -- 4.42 forty, 4.08 shuttle, and a 36-inch vertical. He needs to learn the intricacies of playing wide receiver, but the tools are there for Meiga to be an absolute problem out wide.” --Patrick

What worries you about Malick Meiga?

“Is he actually good at football? Clearly Meiga is an absolutely absurd athlete, but he’s not played football under US rules and wasn’t overly productive against high level talent when he’s occasionally seen it. Meiga has a ton of potential, but that’s all it is right now.” --Clay

Do you think Malick Meiga will be redshirted next season? Around what point of his career do you think he pushes for meaningful playing time?

“Meiga is a sure fire redshirt guy. With his size and freak athleticism, his ceiling may be higher than any other wide receiver in this class. That said, with his need to learn to run routes and adjust to the rules of American Football, the Canadian product’s floor is probably the lowest. He is one of the biggest wild cards in this class.” --Marty

What is your projection for Malick Meiga: depth provider, starter, multi-year starter, all-conference, or all-american?

Clay: Depth provider. Meiga could be a guy like Dan Chisena who solely runs deep routes but is an ace on special teams.

Marty: With Meiga being a wild card I’ll take the safe bet and say depth provider.

Patrick: Depth provider.

Lastly, where do you have Malick Meiga ranked in Penn State’s class?

Clay: 22nd
Marty: 22nd
Patrick: 23rd
