Earlier this morning, the matchups for this year’s Big Ten-ACC Challenge were announced. Included amongst the matchups was Penn State making a trip to Virginia Tech to take on the Hokies on December 8th. The game will be televised on the ESPN family of networks (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU) and a tip time will be announced at a later date.
Much like Penn State, the Hokies are also a team in transition, entering their second year under head coach Mike Young, who went 16-16 overall and 7-13 in ACC play in his first year in Blacksburg. They will seek to improve upon that mark this season, as they try to live up to higher expectations that were set by the success of previous head coach Buzz Williams, who led Virginia Tech to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances before departing for Texas A&M after the 2018-19 season.
Below is a full listing of all of this year’s challenge matchups. Given how the conferences seek competitive balance in these matchups, it speaks volumes as to the expectations for Iowa and Illinois this season, given that they draw UNC and Duke, respectively.
