The college football season has begun for most teams, and boy howdy, it has been entertaining in the early goings.
Most years, I am all about chaos. In fact, every year I am all about chaos, excepting Penn State of course. They should win all of their games 100-0.
But how about this list of top 25 upsets through the first month (or so) of the season:
- Louisiana 31, #23 Iowa State 14
- Marshall 17, #23 Appalachian State 7
- Kansas State 38, #3 Oklahoma 35
- Mississippi State 44, #6 LSU 34
- TCU 33, #9 Texas 31
- Tulsa 34, #11 UCF 26
- Arkansas 21, #16 Mississippi State 14
- Iowa State 37, #18 Oklahoma 30
- NC State 30, #24 Pitt 29
- SMU 30, #25 Memphis 27
And then there are just the top 25 losses as ranked teams played each other:
- #17 Miami, #18 Louisville 34
- #8 Auburn 29, #23 Kentucky 13
- #14 Cincinnati 24, #22 Army 10
- #21 Pitt 23, #24 Louisville 20
- #2 Alabama 52, #13 Texas A&M 24
- #4 Georgia 27, #7 Auburn 6
That’s a total of 10 top 25 upsets, and an additional six top 25 losses, through just five weeks of play time. Not to mention that those five weeks weeks weren’t a full slate of games, and it has just been entertaining watching the rest of college football tear itself apart.
Here’s hoping for moar chaos in the coming weeks!
