Games to Watch (When You’re Not Watching Penn State)

There are still some games on the schedule tomorrow, apparently.

NCAA Football: Boston College at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

In addition to Penn State being 0-3, college football is a bit of a mess right now. We’re currently up to 12 games that have been postponed/cancelled for this weekend, and at this rate, probably more to follow. Of those 12 games, half featured at least one ranked team, including three of the top five (Alabama, Ohio State and Texas A&M). On top of this, nearly every game I have a personal interest in watching tomorrow is either a noon kick like Penn State-Nebraska, or will be Big Ten games that Eli has already covered.

As much as I love college football, tomorrow may be a day for other priorities.

(#2)Notre Dame at Boston College
3:30 p.m., ABC

This could turn out to be one of the better games of the week. Notre Dame will need to come down from the emotional high of upsetting #1 Clemson in overtime and turn around and face a tough B.C. squad. The Eagles actually led a Trevor Lawrence-less Clemson squad for most of the game before allowing the Tigers to come back. Perhaps they learned their lesson and will be ready to go the distance this time out. There are also many weird parallels to the classic ‘93 match-up of these teams when the Eagles upset the Irish, which to this day remains one of the best college football games I’ve ever seen.
Boston College-30, Notre Dame-27 (OT)

Arkansas at (#6)Florida
7 p.m., ESPN

The Razorbacks have a long ways to go as a program, but have at least given everyone a game so far. They even led Georgia for most of their “week 1” contest before the Bulldogs pulled well ahead in the fourth quarter. I keep expecting Florida to falter with some ugly losses, but maybe it’s time to admit they are better than I’m giving them credit for?
Prediction: Florida-37, Arkansas-27

Utah at UCLA
10:30 p.m., FOX

(Ed. note...canceled!)

OR

Oregon State at Washington
11 p.m., FS1

I’m not counting the hours to kickoff or anything, but if you’re a weirdo like me it gives you an opportunity to watch college football until nearly 3 a.m. ET. Sometimes you take what you can get.

Predictions: Utah-31, UCLA-21
Washington-38, Oregon State-24
