Penn State has played two games in the 2020 season, and has yet to record a win. Regardless of how they got here, the fact of the matter is they are winless.
They’ve played two tough defenses, with a new offensive scheme, new receivers, and their top two running backs out. Confidence may be low, egos may be bruised.
It’s time to get well.
What better way to do that than a game against Maryland?
As outlined in this week’s Know Your Foe, the Maryland defense is suspect, to put it charitably. I have faith that the defense will be fine - both against the Terps and the rest of the season - but the offense just needs a bit of a boost.
Look for the Lions to finally flex some offensive muscle this week. I wouldn’t necessarily hope for a blowout win - though I wouldn’t hate it! - but I’d at least like to see the OL get some push. Cliff hanging out in the pocket, making some reads. Receivers getting open. Running backs gaining some yards after contact.
Here’s hoping the offense finds its footing on Saturday, or it could be a long rest of the season.
