It’s time for your weekly look at the world of Penn State football recruiting

ANOTHER 2021 TARGET BACK ON THE MARKET

Last week, we discussed a pair of 2021 target who de-committed from their original schools of choice. This week, another 2021 target backed out of their original commitment. This time, it was four-star defensive end George Wilson.

Wilson opening his recruitment back up came as no surprise. He was committed to South Carolina, but when head coach Will Muschamp was fired this move seemed likely. Wilson has a great relationship with Penn State defensive line coach John Scott Jr. and at one point in the spring the Nittan Lions led in his recruitment. Moving forward, Penn State should be one of the two or three top contenders for Wilson.

Auburn, Maryland and North Carolina will be other schools to watch with Wilson moving forward. All things considered, Penn State should feel pretty good about where they currently stand in Wilson’s recruitment.

NEW 2021 DEFENSIVE TACKLE OFFER

Monday morning, defensive tackle, and all-name team member, Victory Vaka de-committed from Texas A&M. Later in the day, the Nittany Lions extended a scholarship offer to Vaka.

Vaka hails from Westlake Village, California. The Nittany Lions are continuing to search for another defensive lineman or two in their 2021 class. With the early signing period being just over two weeks away it would seem likely that Vaka may wait until February to sign. If Vaka does this and Penn State fails to add another defensive lineman by December 16th, then Scott Jr. and James Franklin may look to rev up the heat on Vaka, if he reciprocates the interest.

2022 LB’S TOP 5 AND ANNOUNCEMENT DATE

Linebacker Nyair Graham released a top 5 on Monday evening. This top 5 included the Nittany Lions.

Graham attends Camden High School in Camden, New Jersey. Graham attends to announce his college decision on Saturday. As of Tuesday morning Graham does not hold any crystal ball predictions on 247Sports. This is a recruitment that Nittany Lion fans will want to watch closely the next few days.
