It was a bit of a surprise to see Pat Freiermuth still eanr first time honors from the coaches, and second team from the media, as he only played in four games this season. In those four games he caught 23 passes for 310 yards and a touchdown, becoming Penn State’s all-time leader in touchdown catches by a tight end.
Jahan Dotson only being named a third team performer was a bit of a surprise as well. Dotson has been one of the most electric wide receivers in the Big Ten this season, averaging 15.1 yards per catch to go with 6 touchdowns.
The other four Nittany Lions to earn All-Big Ten offensive honors are from Phil Trautwein’s offensive line room. Mike Miranda was voted second team all-conference by both the coaches and the media, Will Fries was vote second team by the coaches and was an honorable mention by the media, Michal Menet was voted third team by both, and Rasheed Walker was voted third team by the media and honorable mention by the coaches.
While the Nittany Lion offensive line has struggled at times this year the unit has come on strong in recent weeks. Four players earning All-Big Ten honors goes to show the impact Trautwein has already made with the group.
Congratulations to these six Nittany Lions on earning All-Big Ten honors!
