Make it four in-a-row for Penn State as the Nittany Lions behind a strong night from Jahan Dotson take down Illinois 56-21.
For the Nittany Lions, the game started when they were faced with a 21-14 deficit. Dotson took the first offensive play of the game for the Nittany Lions 75 yards, with Lamont Wade scoring a touchdown on a 100-yard kickoff return to give Penn State its 14 points. Unfortunately, an untimely fumble from Sean Clifford gave Illinois a short field, while the defense gave little resistance during the first quarter, leading to an Illinois 21-14 lead by the end of the first 15 minutes.
Fortunately, it was all Penn State the rest of the 45 minutes. The Nittany Lions’ defense tightened up, shutting out the Illini for the remainder of the game. Meanwhile, Kirk Ciarrocca’s offense had its finest performance, putting up 42 points after the first quarter — in large part, thanks to Jahan Dotson. The junior wide receiver once again proved he’s one of the best receivers in the country, hauling in six receptions for 189 yards and 2 touchdowns — including this beauty of a tunnel screen.
Before you knew it, it was a comfortable victory for the Nittany Lions in their last game in Beaver Stadium for 2020. Now, Penn State awaits to see if it will be offered a bowl bid; and perhaps most importantly, if it will accept one as well.
