Now that we’ve had a moment to sit back and reflect on a tumultuous season, let’s let the takes fly. The marks on Penn State’s report card spread across a wide range. We were left with plenty of talking points and unanswered questions.

Certain personnel issues will be addressed via the transfer portal, in which James Franklin and the Nittany Lions have already found success. There is still work to be done, particularly on either side of the defensive line following the early departure of a premier pass rusher.

Where the portal may falter, Penn State’s recruiting may pick up the slack. The Nittany Lions recently landed in a highly touted top 10, while the 2022 class is headlined by an all-state quarterback.

Not everyone is already looking ahead to 2021, however. Bowl season is arguably the best season there is, even if not every bowl is created equal. New Year’s Day brings us the cream of the crop, with the Sugar Bowl and “Rose Bowl” serving as this year’s semifinals. Prior semifinals have been anywhere from awesome to awful, but they may be more problematic than some would care to admit.
