The Land Grant Trophy matchup between Penn State and Michigan next Saturday has opened with Penn State as a 13-point favorite.
The Spartans enter the game at 2-4, with their lone wins coming 29-20 against Northwestern, and 27-24 in Ann Arbor against in-state rival Michigan. Three of their losses were routs, including Indiana (24-0), Iowa (49-7), and Ohio State (52-12). Michigan State also had their November 21st contest with Maryland cancelled due to COVID-19.
In 2019, Penn State recaptured the greatest trophy in college football with a 28-7 victory in East Lansing. Prior to last season, the Nittany Lions had dropped two heartbreakers to the Spartans, a 21-17 defeat in 2018 (a game where Trace McSorley set PSU passing records), and a 27-24 loss in 2017 (highlighted by a three and a half hour weather delay). Michigan State currently leads the series 17-15-1.
Penn State plays the Spartans at 3:30 on Saturday. The game can be seen on ESPN.
