Wins at home over Indiana, and on the road at Nebraska last week have Penn State climbing back up the polls and ranking metrics. Penn State is now No. 22 in the AP Poll, 24th in NET ranking, and 16th in KenPom.
On Wednesday, the Nittany Lions beat the Hoosiers convincingly in State College thanks to stifling defense and strong scoring performances from Curtis Jones, Myles Dread, and Mike Watkins off the bench in support of Lamar Stevens. The Hoosiers had received 15 votes in last week’s AP Poll before dropping two straight (at PSU, at OSU).
On Saturday, a sluggish, 3-pt happy first-half wasn’t enough to derail the Nittany Lions on a day filled with Top-25 upsets around the league. The 12-point win in Lincoln keeps Pat Chambers’ team climbing up the standings, while notching a key road victory in conference play.
Penn State has an excellent opportunity on Tuesday night as they head to East Lansing to take on the No. 16-ranked Michigan State Spartans. They then head home to face the Minnesota Golden Gophers. An undefeated week would put them squarely in the conversation of regular season Big Ten conference championship.
