Penn State has found its third defensive line coach this century, as South Carolina defensive line coach John Scott Jr. will be making the move to Happy Valley.
Reports out of South Carolina now confirming John Scott Jr. has formally accepted the same role at Penn State https://t.co/9FHKLjiefB

The 44-year-old Scott Jr. comes to Penn State having spent the previous three seasons coaching defensive lines in the SEC — 2017 and 2018 at Arkansas and then 2019 at South Carolina.
Prior to his time in the SEC, Scott Jr. had stops with the New York Jets, Texas Tech, Missouri State, Norfolk State, Georgia Southern, and Louisiana-Lafayette — the last of those being important. Scott. Jr. was a graduate assistant at Louisiana-Lafayette while Brent Pry was there, thus, the obvious connection to the current Penn State staff. Clearly, Pry was a big part in this hiring, and if Pry signs off on a defensive hiring, that’s all the convincing I need.
Welcome to Penn State, Coach Scott!
