John Rothstein reports that Penn State will face Florida in an NYC event this coming December. The Nittany Lions have already agreed to participate in the Charleston Classic, so this would add another Power conference opponent to a non-conference schedule that’s shaping out to be jam packed with tough opponents.
With the yearly Big Ten/ACC challenge, as well as the Charleston Classic, Penn State could face up to five power conference opponents on its 11 game non-conference schedule, not counting any opponents that have yet to be announced.
Barring any unforeseen news, the Lions will return a core that includes Myreon Jones, Jamari Wheeler, Myles Dread, Seth Lundy, John Harrar, Trent Buttrick, and Izaiah Brockington, and will add the services of Patrick Kelly, Diallon Johnson, D.J. Gordon, Valdir Manuel, and Caleb Dorsey. Abdou Tsimbila’s situation is still up in the air, but as of today he is expected to join the team in the summer.
The schedule is as follows:
Charleston Classic (3 games)
College of Charleston,
Florida State,
Houston,
Oklahoma State,
Seton Hall,
Tennessee
VCU
NYC Event (1 game)
Florida
Big Ten/ACC Challenge (1 game)
ACC school not likely to be Florida State
