Penn State’s 17-10 victory over Pitt last fall saw a team effort from Brent Pry’s defense. On this play, the defense was led by defensive tackle PJ Mustipher. Battling through the rain and the elements, Mustipher blew up the play and decided to celebrate.
Mustipher finished the 2019 season with 37 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. While he was only credited with one start, he played starter minutes for the Nittany Lion defense. In fact, he played more snaps than starting defensive tackle Antonio Shelton did.
This fall, Mustipher will slide into a starting role alongside Shelton. Nittany Lion fans and coaches alike are expecting big things from Mustipher in 2020. The junior appears primed for a breakout season that could potentially lead to him playing on Sundays in 2021.
What are your expectations for Mustipher this fall? What about the Nittany Lion defense as a whole? Will there even be football in the fall? Let’s hope so!
