With only a few minutes left in the first half in their 2019 season opener, Penn State held a comfortable 27-0 lead over a completely overmatched Idaho team. With James Franklin and JaJuan Seider committed to a four-man running back rotation dubbed the “Lawn Boyz” Devyn Ford found himself getting his first taste of live college football.

On only his second career carry, the former four-star recruit out of Virginia took the handoff from Sean Clifford, found a crease just off the left tackle, stiff-armed a defender, and dashed 81 yards to paydirt. It sure was a heck of a way for Devyn to introduce himself to the PSU faithful. He would go on to rush for a career-high 107 yards on six carries against Idaho, by far his best statistical performance of the season,

With Journey Brown firmly entrenched as the starting running back and Noah Cain the clear change of pace backup, it will be interesting to see how much Devyn can increase his playing time from last season. While Ricky Slade has entered the transfer portal, a couple more freshmen blue-chippers are also on board in Caziah Holmes (who reportedly turned heads in winter workouts) and Keyvonne Lee. This leads us to our question for you, Dear Reader:

What are your expectations for PSU’s running backs this upcoming season?
