We continue our series highlighting our wonderful photographer Heather Weikel’s favorite images from the 2019 football season. Give Heather a follow at @hweikelphoto on Twitter to see more of her work.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Will Levis didn’t get much playing time in 2019, appearing in garbage time against Idaho and Maryland, as well as in the Purdue and Indiana contests.
The Connecticut native made his most significant impact in Columbus versus the Buckeyes after Sean Clifford went out with an injury. Despite not getting starter reps throughout the week, Levis led the Nittany Lions on a touchdown drive and kept the road team in the game long after many thought the game to be lost.
This photo shows the 6’3’’ 231 pounder in the season finale against Rutgers, where he threw for a touchdown and also rushed for 108 yards. He is expected to be the backup for Clifford the next time Penn State takes the field.
Do you think Levis could play a role in Kirk Ciarrocca’s offense in 2020? How do you envision him being used outside of his role as Clifford’s backup?
