Highlights

The Tale

At one time thought to be a quarterback recruit, Lonnie White Jr. shifted his focus recently to being an athlete — whether that be as a wide receiver, safety, or potentially even a linebacker. Because of that switch, offers poured in during the spring, as White Jr. landed offers from recent Big Ten title winners such as Penn State and Michigan State. Oh, and Michigan also offered him too.

With visits this summer looking less and less likely, White Jr. decided to end his recruitment, staying in state and making the call for Penn State.

Outlook

White Jr. is someone who really could have seen his stock rise on the camp circuit this spring and early summer — both from an offers perspective and a star-rating perspective. He’s an impressive, smooth athlete with great size at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, and while his sophomore highlights show his potential as a wide receiver, it’s hard to know where White Jr. ends up at the next level. That’s why his ranking is all over the board — from being a four-star on 247 to a two-star on Rivals.

Regardless of his position, White Jr.’s blend of size and athleticism can’t be denied, which is why Penn State made the decision to offer the in-state product back in April. Again, it remains to be seen where White Jr. will end up position-wise, but he’s the type of guy you take and figure out later.
