Penn State’s defensive tackle room just got a little bit lighter as rising redshirt junior Damion Barber announced that he is transferring from Penn State.

Barber came to a Penn State as a four-star defensive end from Harrisburg. It wouldn’t be long before nature ran its course and pushed Barber to move to defensive tackle. While some promise was shown last summer and there was hope that Barber would crack the defensive tackle rotation in 2019, it didn’t quite happen as Barber saw time in just eight games, finishing the season with just 3 tackles.
Even with the transfer of Barber, Penn State’s depth at defensive tackle shouldn’t be an issue. The Nittany Lions return Antonio Shelton, PJ Mustipher, and Fred Hansard from last year’s rotation, and should expect to see Judge Culpepper and D’Von Ellies push for time as well.
Best of luck to Damion at his next stop.
