For the second straight day of the countdown, we’re paying homage to a tight end. This time, it’s Mike Gesicki’s direct successor. Pat Freiermuth had the opportunity to declare for this year’s NFL Draft after his sophomore season, thanks to the fact he attended a year of prep school after finishing high school. Pat however, decided shortly after the regular season finale against Rutgers that he was coming back, saying that he was not ready to leave the “brotherhood and family atmosphere” at Penn State.
And that’s tremendous news for all of us Nittany Lion fans, as we get one more year to see this complete package of a tight end add to his career totals of 875 yards on 69 catches (nice) and 15 touchdowns. With KJ Hamler now in the NFL, and with Jahan Dotson the only proven wide receiver returning, Pat will once again be relied upon as a primary receiving weapon.
