Wearing the No. 84 jersey this season will be Theo Johnson, no relation to Juwan Johnson, whose picture we’re using since we don’t have a photo of Theo that we can (legally) use. The 6’6” 240-pound Windsor, Ontario native’s signing with Penn State kept the Happy Valley-to-Canada pipeline alive and well, as the former 4-star tight end who enrolled in January will seek to earn some playing time amongst a loaded room of other TE’s led by none other than Pat Freiermuth.
The good news for Theo is that he won’t be forced into game action and will be able to learn from the best. That being said, look for him to see playing time against the easier opponents on the schedule and in any other game game that gets out of hand. It will all be part of a process of him fighting for a starting spot as soon as 2021.
