Smith Vilbert took a redshirt last season but that didn’t mean that he didn’t contribute to the team. The 6-foot-6 and 266 pound defensive end was named the Developmental Squad’s Defensive Player of the Year. He made the whole team better while taking a year to work on his game.
The Montvale, New Jersey native had other options, such as Florida, Florida State and Miami, but he chose Happy Valley over the Sunshine State. We may not see him during the games for another year or two but we will see the result of his work, as his teammates will play more sharp and crisp than they would have were Vilbert the type of guy to take it easy in practice.
Nice work young man!
Just 92 more days until kickoff.
