Only Rafael Checa Until Penn State Football

As we hit the 90-day mark of the countdown, we recognize one Mister Rafael Checa. As you may recall, Checa was the starting kickoff specialist for Penn State during the 2018 season as a true freshman, who saw 37 of his 79 kickoffs end up as touchbacks. He also made a couple of tackles during his kicking duties, to boot.

Checa redshirted last season as Jordan Stout came in from Virginia Tech and subsequently proceeded to grab the starting kickoff spot by the horns and never relinquished it. While he will clearly be the backup to Stout in 2020, you can take it to your local bank that behind the scenes, he is preparing for the possibility of being called into action at a moment’s notice, should Stout for any reason not be available.
