Journey Brown has been named to the second award watch list of the preseason, this time for the Paul Hornung Award, which does to the nation’s most versatile player. Brown earned a reputation as a dangerous running back and return man during the 2019 season.
Brown led the team with 890 rushing yards as part of a four-man rotation at running back. His workload increased during the final five games, and he made the most of it with four outings with 100 or more rushing yards. He was also named to several All-Bowl teams for his 202 yard outing in the Cotton Bowl against Memphis, a Penn State bowl record.
Along with Noah Cain, Brown is also on the Doak Walker Award watch list for the nation’s best running back. Brown enters the season in the spotlight, being named to several first-team All Big-Ten preseason squads, and ranking among the top running backs in the nation.
Saquon Barkley is the only Nittany Lion to take home the Paul Hornung Award in its 11-year history, receiving the honor in 2017.
