Saturday afternoon, Penn State picked up their first 2022 commitmnet. This commitment came from four-star wide receiver Kaden Saunders. With Saunders on board, Penn State’s second 2022 commitment does not appear to be far behind.

Four-star tight end Jerry Cross has announced that he will commit on Tuesday at 6 p.m. This comes after Cross nearly announced his commitment back on July 17.

The Nittany Lions hold all five of the 247Sports crystal ball predictions for Cross. Saunders and Cross would be an incredible start for the Nittany Lions in the 2022 cycle. Landing Cross would also continue the incredible job Penn State has done at recruiting the tight end position in recent cycles.

On Saturday, four-star lineman Rayshaun Benny included the Nittany Lions in his top 8 schools.

The Michigan native visited Penn State for a junior day in late January. The same junior day that helped the Nittany Lions land Michigan standouts Jayleen Reed, Kalen and Kobe King, and Jamari Buddin.

At the next level, Benny could play offensive or defensive tackle. While this is a recruitment that Penn State is firmly in the mix of, without getting him back to campus for another visit, which will likely not be possible this fall, it is tough to envision them as his landing spot.

Penn State sent out a pair of noteworthy offers to 2022 prospects. These offers went out to Minnesota athlete Eli King and Ohio defensive end Trey Bixby.

King is a prospect that has started to blow up. Since the start of April, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, Notre Dame, and Stanford have all offered King, in addition to the Nittany Lions.

Bixby is a four-star prospect who has already been to Penn State. He camped for the staff last summer and was impressive. When visits resume, Bixby will likely make it back to campus and become a top defensive end target for 2022.

In the 2023 cycle, the Nittany Lions sent out an offer to Florida tight end Pearce Spurlin.

As is always the case with Florida prospects, the Nittany Lions could be a factor in Spurlin’s recruitment due to JaJuan Seider. Throw in how well the Nittany Lions are recruiting tight end in general, and if they can get Spurlin to campus they could be a real player in his recruitment.
