The preseason accolades continued to roll in for Penn State players, especially one Micah Parsons, on Friday morning.
The 6-foot-3, 244-pounds Parsons was the unanimous selection for the Big Ten Preseason Defensive Player of the Year according to a poll done by Cleveland.com.
The website polled 34 reporters, all of whom put Parsons at No. 1 after the Nittany Lions’ linebacker received just one third-place vote a year ago, a year in which he was named the conference linebacker of the year.
It’s no surprise to see Parsons top the chart this year, the former five-star recruit was named to just about every watch list he was eligible for this summer and topped Penn State in tackles for the second time last year as a true sophomore. He compiled 109 tackles, including 14 for loss and five sacks. He also forced four fumbles and recovered one.
Additionally, Parsons is projected as a consensus top-10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
