TOP TARGET COMMITS ELSEWHERE
There is no denying that Penn State has struggled in the 2021 recruiting cycle. Despite these struggles, they came into the week with plenty of top targets still on the board that could help right the ship. One of these targets was Lackawanna cornerback De’Jahn Warren.
Out of nowhere, Warren committed to Georgia on Monday. This was a move that surprised many people, especially since all five of his 247Sports crystal ball predictions were in favor of the Ntitany Lions. Warren is also the first Lackawanna Community College prospect that James Franklin has pursued and failed to land.
There is no way around it, missing out on Warren is a big blow to the Nittany Lions. He is the top JUCO cornerback in the cycle and a day one impact type of player. Factor in Warren having visited Penn State more than any other school and never having visited Georgia, and missing in this recruitment is inexcusable.
NEW OFFERS
As John Scott Jr. and the Nittany Lions continue to expand their 2022 defensive line board, defensive tackle Caden Curry picked up an offer last week.
Excited to announce that I have received an offer from Penn State University. Thanks to coach @CoachCBW and the rest of the staff! #WeAre #PSUnrivaled pic.twitter.com/v6Al4AeF2F

Curry is a native of Greenwood, Indiana. Curry is already shaping up to be one of the top defensive tackles in the 2022 cycle. When visits can happen again, the Nittany Lions will undoubtedly look to get Curry on campus for a visit.
Any time a quarterback offer goes out that should grab people’s attention. That is what happened on Sunday when the Nittany Lions offered four-star 2023 quarterback Malachi Nelson.

Nelson is a native of Los Alamitos, California. This appears to be an offer to gauge interest from the player. Nelson will have countless opportunities from across the college for where he can play college football. If Nelson reciprocates the interest, the staff will look to get him to campus for a visit when visits can occur again.
2022 LINEBACKER’S TOP FIVE
Four-star 2022 linebacker Anthony Johnson released his top five last week. This list included the Nittany Lions.

Johnson attends Neumann Goretti High School in Philadelphia, which is a school Penn State has not had success at. However, they are hoping Johnson can help change this. Johnson appears to be a pure MIKE linebacker at the next level, and due to what they already have on board may not have a spot at Ohio State. This will certainly be a recruitment to watch moving forward.
