Under four weeks until Penn State football (hopefully) takes the field. The number 27 is worn in 2020 by sophomore defensive tackle Aeneas Hawkins and redshirt freshman safety Jaden Seider (yes, the son of the running backs coach) Neither player has accrued any statistics, although Hawkins did see game action once in 2019.
Seider came to Penn State as a preferred walk-on from nearby State College Area High School. Prior to choosing the Nittany Lions, he also had interest from Syracuse, West Virginia, Oregon State, and Miami. Seider is also a cancer survivor, having defeated Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2015.
Hawkins was slightly more in demand as a four-star defensive tackle from Cincinnati. He had offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and a host of other top schools, but chose Penn State in August 2017. As a defensive tackle, Hawkins may see time in the rotation sooner than Seider.
Time will tell if either of these players will see the field in 2020...
