Black Shoe Diaries 2020 Prediction Game: Week Two

Heading into the second week of the season, Clay has the early lead and earned 14 points in week one out of a maximum of 40-points (had he predicted each score correctly) but more realistically, out of 20-points. A very impressive showing out of Clay to say the least..

Personally, I am disappointed in my week one effort I promise to do better this week. Additionally, this week, we are trying a different formatting for this post. Please let me know if you prefer our week one formatting or week two formatting. All our odds for this week’s games were as of Wednesday afternoon and were grabbed from sportsbettingdime.com.

With that, our week two games are the following;

Syracuse at North Carolina (-23): North Carolina was a bit of a surprise in 2019 in their first year under Mack Brown (in his second tenure though) and were led by freshman quarterback Sam Howell. Howell returns as a sophomore, and in my mind is one of the top quarterbacks in the entire country. Will he continues his development and take steps forward or will he have some sophomore struggles? Saturday will be our first chance to find that out.

Duke at Notre Dame (-19.5): We will get to witness Notre Dame’s first-ever conference game (in football). The Fighting Irish have ACC Championship and College Football Playoff aspirations in mind but they’ll first have to focus on their first conference match-up against the Duke Blue Devils and former Clemson quarterback Chase Brice.

Coastal Carolina at Kansas (-6.5): Coastal Carolina upset Kansas in this match-up last year but can they do it two years in a row against Les Miles’s Jayhawks?

Lousiana-Monroe at Army (-19): Not the most exciting game to say the least but Army is coming off a massive win over Middle Tennessee St and my former college roommate is now part of the Warhawks’s coaching staff, so that’s cool.

Charlotte at Appalachian State (-16.5): This was a close game last year, due to Appalachian State’s defense disappearing for the most part. App State is definitely the better team but will they allow Charlotte to hang around this time?
