Last week’s announcement of the Big Ten’s return to play next month prompted a change in the AMWAY USA Today Coaches Poll and the subsequent return of Penn State to the fray.
The Nittany Lions popped up at No. 13 in Sunday’s poll, somehow losing six spots despite not yet playing. This would make a bit more sense had SEC teams, which will not start their respective seasons until the week to come, not maintained their spots in the polls.
Penn State was No. 7 in the poll when the season was temporarily halted.
Ohio State similarly dropped, as the Buckeyes found themselves at No. 10 in the nation, with Wisconsin (17), Michigan (19) and Minnesota (22) rounding out the Big Ten contingent,
Also receiving votes were Iowa and Nebraska.
