Four weeks. Just four more weeks until Penn State football!
Four weeks equals 28 days. For the 2020 Nittany Lions, 28 will be worn by both Jayson Oweh and Devyn Ford. Both have close to limitless potential, but since Oweh will likely be a starter this fall he is the one who gets the nod in the countdown for today.
There was some concern over rather or not Oweh would opt out of the 2020 season. However, shortly after the Big Ten announced their return to play plans Oweh squashed those worries and is now ready to terrorize quarterbacks for the Nittany Lions this fall.
A former top-100 prospect, Oweh was a member of Penn State’s highly touted 2018 recruiting class. The pass rush specialist spent his first year on campus redshirting to put on weight. Then as a redshirt freshman last fall, he flashed his pass rush ability while steadily improving against the run throughout the season.
Oweh played in four games in 2018 to preserve his redshirt, and then played in all 13 games last season. In these two seasons he has 7 tackles for a loss and 7 sacks. He was also the Big Ten Freshman of the Week following his 2 sack and forced fumble performance against Michigan State last season.
This season, Oweh will be replied upon to be a major cog in the Nittany Lion defense. Look for big things from Oweh this fall.
28 days to go!
