After what Saquon Barkley accomplished in Happy Valley, wearing the number 26 on offense now comes with big expectations. This fall, true freshman running back Caziah Holmes will become the first player to wear 26 on offense since Barkley left for the NFL.
Holmes knows that 26 will come with high expectations. However, those are expectations he is ready to live up to. After all, the reason he chose number 26, and a big reason why he chose to go to Penn State, was due to Barkley being his favorite football player.
A four-star recruit, Holmes comes to Happy Valley from Cocoa, Florida. The 5-foot-11, 215 pound Holmes has all the tools needed to make an immediate impact this fall. For a lot of FBS teams, he could be their feature back, or at worst their number two back, as a true freshman. Penn State’s running back room, however, is arguably the deepest in the FBS. Despite this, look for Holmes to see the field this fall. He is an explosive playmaker, and should also be a staple on special teams. Potentially in the return game.
26 days to go!
