HIGHLIGHTS
THE TALE
Drew Shelton was offered by the Nittany Lions back in May, and despite the pandemic, was able to make a visit to State College on August 7. Since then, things were shifted into high gear as it became clear the Nittany Lions were going to be major players in Shelton’s recruitment. As it turns out, Shelton saw all he needed to see as he made the call for Penn State earlier this morning.
Shelton becomes the 5th commitment in the 2022 recruiting class, which now features four four-star recruits — with Shelton the highest-ranked of the bunch (No. 130), according to the 247Sports Composite.
OUTLOOK
Shelton is two years away from putting on a Penn State uniform for an actual Penn State game, so a lot will change over the next 700-ish days or so. The most dramatic difference we’ll see? His weight. He’s just 255 right now (a thin 255 at that), so seeing how much his body changes over the next year and then the year following when he finally enrolls, will go a long way in determining what type of player Shelton will become.
Obviously though, there’s a lot to like about Shelton — great frame, good feet, and moves incredibly well. He lined up at both left and right tackle, which might not seem like a lot, but being use to both sides is certainly a positive. For sophomore film, it’s clear to see why he’s so highly-touted.
