Penn State Basketball Improves to 40th In NET Rankings

Penn State has been idle for over a week due to COVID restrictions, but they’re holding steady in the NET rankings.

Penn State Nittany Lions Basketball improved over last week’s opening NET Ranking by two spots, seeing themselves go to 40th in the metric that now determines who goes into the NCAA tournament at season’s end.

The Nittany Lions opened at 42nd, saw themselves go as high as 37th throughout the week, and sit at 40th so far after not having played any games since December 30th, a tight contest against Indiana.

The Big Ten continues to dominate the NET rankings, having 11 of its 14 teams in the top 50, and 13 of 14 in the top 100. Every game except for one against Nebraska is now at least a Quadrant 2 game in the Big Ten, and with how teams like Maryland have found a propensity to only win on the road against ranked teams, it’s likely that this will remain this way for the remainder of the season.
