Meet The 2021 Class: OL Landon Tengwall

He was No. 1!

Penn State Athletics

BSD’s recruiting staff sat down for a roundtable on each prospect Penn State signed in the 2021 class. Coming in at No. 1 was four-star offensive lineman Landon Tengwall.

What makes you excited about Landon Tengwall?

“Like Kalen King… everything? Tengwall is agile and has terrific footwork, these traits make him a strong pull blocker. He has the frame to play offensive tackle at a high level, and can be an elite guard. Tengwall is a nasty, physical blocker who punishes defenders. He has a great first punch and fires off the ball in a hurry. Tengwall also has great technique and does an excellent job of getting leverage on defenders with his bend.” --Marty

What worries you about Landon Tengwall?

“Has he already maxed out as a player? Tengwall has been pretty much the same player for three years now, which is fine because that’s a very good player. Even if he doesn’t improve markedly I think you’re probably looking at a multi-year starter for Penn State, but that’s the only real concern.” --Clay

Do you think Landon Tengwall will be redshirted next season? Around what point of his career do you think he pushes for meaningful playing time?

“For 99% of offensive linemen, a redshirt year is in order — but that isn’t the case for Tengwall. He’s already unbelievably physically developed, he’s as technically sound as any offensive lineman in the country, and to top it all off, he’s already enrolled in school. He’ll have a full offseason with the Nittany Lions before his freshman season, which is obviously massive. I don’t know if he’s a no-brainer green light, but I am at the point where I would be surprised if he’s redshirted. I think he pushes for time in 2021 — gets some game reps a la Juice Scruggs — and will be a full-time starter in 2022.” --Patrick

What do you think is the most realistic outcome for Landon Tengwall: depth provider, starter, multi-year starter, all-conference, or all-american?

Clay: All-conference
Marty: All-conference
Patrick: All-conference

Lastly, where do you have Landon Tengwall ranked in Penn State’s class?

Clay: 1st
Marty: 1st
Patrick: 1st
