BSD’s recruiting staff sat down for a roundtable on each prospect Penn State signed in the 2021 class. Coming in at No. 15 was three-star K Sander Sahaydak.
What makes you excited about Sander Sahaydak?
“I’m not going to sit here and act like I know didly-squat about projecting kickers. What I will say is that Sander is a fellow #LehighValleyBoy which is usually good for Penn State — i.e. Matt Millen, Mike Cerimele, Saquon Barkley, Jahan Dotson, and BSD’s bestest smarterest blogger. Welcome to the club, Sander. Don’t let us down.” --Patrick
What worries you about Sander Sahaydak?
“Kickers are weird, and often headcases. Physically, leg strength is not gonna be an issue. But who the hell knows with technique and accuracy and mindset.” --Clay
Do you think Sander Sahaydak will be redshirted next season? Around what point of his career do you think he pushes for meaningful playing time?
“Sahaydak’s fate in the fall may hinge on what other players do. With Stout taking a step backward in 2020 it would make sense for Penn State to look to lessen his work load in 2021, however, odds are, this would result in someone such as Levi Forest punting instead of Stout. That said, Jake Pinegar also regressed some in 2020 and if he continues to struggle in 2021 it would not be a surprise to see Sahaydak earn an opportunity on FGs/PATs.” --Marty
What do you think is the most realistic outcome for Sander Sahaydak: depth provider, starter, multi-year starter, all-conference, or all-american?
Clay: Starter
Marty: Starter
Patrick: Starter
Lastly, where do you have Sander Sahaydak ranked in Penn State’s class?
Clay: 14th
Marty: 15th (Sander is really good, but you know, kicker)
Patrick: 15th
