There is some uncertainty around the roster for next season.
Is Sean Clifford the best QB Penn State can hope for? Or should they look to the portal for some competition?
Will the RBs get healthy? Or will there continue to be a learning curve for the young backs?
Will the WRs all return, or will Penn State have to break in new faces?
Who will man the OL? The DL? Are there any safeties on the roster at all anywhere?
If there’s one position I feel most confident in, it’s tight end.
True, Pat Freiermuth is moving on to the NFL, but the position behind him is stacked. Brenton Strange and Theo Johnson proved to be a potent 1-2 punch at the position, and were actually on the field at the same time on occasion!
Strange recorded 17 receptions for 164 yards, and two TDs in 2020, while Johnson hauled in four receptions for 56 yards. Both of them proved to be very effective blockers, and are perhaps ahead of even where Freiermuth was at the same point in his career.
And of course let’s not forget Zack Kuntz, the 6’7” athlete who should be a redzone mismatch for the offense.
But what do you think? What positions are going to be strengths for the Lions in 2021?
