5.5 College Football Games to Watch Besides Penn State-Maryland

Let’s kick off the first Saturday of November with wall-to-wall college football.

NCAA Football: Louisiana State at Alabama John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Just a friendly reminder - Big Ten games are excluded below as they are covered in the conference preview.

Army at Air Force
11:30 a.m., CBS

Can’t wait until noon for your college football fix? Fortunately, both teams are competitive this year, with Air Force just two narrow losses away from being unbeaten. This game could wrap up by 2 p.m. thanks to the early start.
Prediction: Air Force-35, Army-30

(#9)Wake Forest at North Carolina
Noon, ABC

No one would have been surprised that this game would feature a top 10 squad against an unranked opponent. It’s just no one expected Wake Forest to be undefeated by this time, while the Tar Heels have turned out to be among the biggest disappointments of the college football season. This could still end up being one of the wildest games of the regular season, as both teams have highly-productive offenses and not much in the way of defense. This will be the exact opposite of the Air Force-Navy game, and could be wrapping up around halftime of the 3:30 p.m. games.
Prediction: Wake Forest- 52, North Carolina- 44

(#13)Auburn at (#14)Texas A&M
3:30 p.m., CBS

I’m breaking my own rule to include a game during Penn State’s timeslot, as these two suddenly hot teams battle to try to keep hopes afloat for a NY6 spot. Bo Nix has been a completely different quarterback as of late, while Texas A&M turned a corner to upset Alabama and has kept the momentum running.
Prediction: Auburn-34, Texas A&M-31

LSU at (#2)Alabama
7 p.m., ESPN

I could be proven wrong very quickly on Saturday, but something tells me this could be a good one. Alabama isn’t a lock to blow the doors off opponents each week like they have for most of the Saban era, while LSU could be dangerous as they look to help send Coach O with a monumental victory before his time comes to an end in Baton Rouge.
Prediction: Alabama-41, LSU-33

Texas at Iowa State
7:30 p.m., FS1

Both of these teams are underperforming, but man do they put on a show each week. This should be a back-and-forth affair that comes down to one team making the right play at the right time in the fourth quarter. That bodes well for the Cyclones considering the Longhorns late-game woes this season.
Prediction: Iowa State-38, Texas-34

(#24)San Diego State at Hawai’i
11 p.m., FS1

This game is included for anyone who likes to doze off in front of the warm glow of a college football game.
Prediction: I’ll fall asleep by halftime and stumble upon the score at some point next week.
