After the departure of Tyler Bowen to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Nittany Lions were on the search for a new tight end coach in 2021,
Well, they didn’t have to look very far.
Penn State announced Friday morning that letterman and 2013 team captain Ty Howle would fill the vacant position.

Howle was a two-year starter at center for Penn State before moving to Western Illinois where he served in various capacities, including co-offensive coordinator in 2018. He then returned to Penn State as an offensive analyst before receiving the tight end coach role.
With the move, the Nittany Lions also announced other staff changes to coincide with Bowen’s departure.
Defensive backs coach and defensive recruiting coordinator Terry Smith was elevated to associate head coach, while wide receiver coach Taylor Stubblefield has been named the offensive recruiting coordinator.
