One of the best defenders in the country & shot 38% from deep. Fifth year senior.
The dominoes continue to fall. Jamari Wheeler is the second Nittany Lion to enter the transfer portal, following reports earlier in the evening that John Harrar had done so as well.
Wheeler first committed to Jim Ferry at Duquesne, then followed him to Penn State after he’d gotten a position as an assistant with the Lions. Now that both Chambers and Ferry are gone, it makes sense to see Wheeler try to find another place to call home.
There has been no reported interested just yet, but don’t be surprised if Wheeler ends up wherever Ferry and/or Chambers end up after this season.
Like Harrar, Wheeler used his senior season to showcase how much growth he accomplished as a player, having gone from 12% shooting from three his freshman year to 38% his senior season. He was also named to the Big Ten All Defensive Team at the end of the season.
Good luck to Wheeler in his future endeavors!
