Penn State put the final touches on its 2024 and 2026 schedules, announcing today that the Nittany Lions will host Kent State in 2024, with matchups against Marshall and San Jose State coming in 2026.
- 2024 non-conference schedule: @West Virginia, Bowling Green, and Kent State
- 2026 non-conference schedule: Marshall, *@Temple, and San Jose State
*It’s at Lincoln Financial Field, which is pretty much a home game for Penn State since Penn State runs Philadelphia, please do not mention the 2015 game I don’t know what you’re talking about, thank you and goodnight
The Nittany Lions were scheduled to face off against Kent State and San Jose State in 2020, but with the Big Ten doing away with non-conference affairs, those games got wiped from the schedule. Provided there’s no pandemic in 2024 or 2026 *furiously knocks on wood* then those games will finally be able to take place.
Marshall is a new add to the schedule, potentially pitting James Franklin against his former assistant Charles Huff. While that would be a cool matchup to see, the chances that both Huff and Franklin are at their respective programs come 2026 seems relatively unlikely. Still, I like to think that Franklin is talking some smack in his former assistant group chat (if you’re wondering, Josh Gattis is not in the group chat, sorry Josh), telling Huff he’s going to blow him out.
